Fide Instructor Praful ZaveriThe Chief instructor and the Director of the School, is Praful Zaveri, who has trained more than 2000 children over a period of 15-years.

FIDE Instructor CertificateBased on his performance at the Singapore International Chess Convention 2007, FIDE (World Chess Federation) he has been bestowed the title of “FIDE Instructor” (FI). Incidentally, Praful Zaveri is the 1st Indian to obtain the title of ‘FI’.

He is an international rated Chess player and during his active stint as a player, he has won many prizes at the Inter-Collegiate, State, National & International events.

He is also the author of one of the most popular Chess books in India – “The Chess Course” (ISBN 978-81-7525-816-7), which is a complete training manual. This book is being used by thousands of chess players across the country and is followed as syllabus. He has also authored one more training manual – ‘Mastermind Chess – I’ (ISBN: 978-81-7525-947-8).

As a trainer he was nominated by FIDE (World Chess Federation) as an examiner for the FIDE Trainers Seminar held at Botswana (West Africa) in August 2008.

He was also the lecturer & examiner for the ‘Orientation Seminar for Coaches’ conducted by the All India Chess Federation in June 2009 at Chennai. He has also been nominated by the All India Chess Federation in their ‘Panel of Trainers’ to teach promising youngsters in various States of India.

He has successfully conducted training camps, both locally as well as abroad at places like Ooty, Rajkot and Bangkok.

Besides training, he is also a contributor of articles on Chess for prominent international websites like: www.chessbase.com and Chess magazines like AICF Chronicle.

He is also a qualified National Chess Arbiter and has officiated in more than 25 FIDE Ratings & National Championships as the ‘Chief Arbiter’. He has also officiated as ‘Deputy Chief Arbiter’ in International Chess events like Commonwealth Chess Championship, Asian Zonal Chess Championship, Asian Junior Chess Championship and two editions of the KL International Open Chess Tournament held at Malaysia in 2009 & 2010.

His current focus to improve the level of Chess in Mumbai is to strive for ‘Introduction of Chess in Schools’ as a subject.
